What Do You Need First?
Let’s Break It Down in 5 Steps!
- STEP.0
-
Microchip First!
Getting your pet microchipped is
absolutely essential.
- STEP.1
-
To transport pets from Japan to the UK, they must be vaccinated against rabies. Please note that vaccinations will not be accepted unless they are administered after microchipping.
- STEP.2
-
A rabies vaccination certificate in English will be required.
Please be sure to note down the vaccination date, the rabies vaccine manufacturer's name, and the Batch number.
- STEP.3
-
An export application to the Animal Quarantine Service and a UKHC are required.
The UKHC is a UK form of health certificate, and is required when departing for the UK.
- STEP.4
-
Precheck is required on the UK side, so you'll need to submit your passport, e-ticket,
(ToR number if sending your pet duty-free),a photo of your pet's face,
UKHC, and proof of rabies vaccination in English.
You'll also need to apply to the Animal Quarantine Service and submit the necessary documents in advance.
- STEP.5
-
On the day of departure, please place your pet in an appropriate IATA-compliant crate, provide a water bottle, lay down a toilet sheet, and prepare two meals. Please also bring the original signed UKHC document and your rabies vaccination certificate in English.
*The originals are required upon departure.
