Heathrow Animal Reception Centre has been providing live animal care services at Heathrow Airport since 1977. After arrival, animals will be collected approximately 5-6 hours later after passing through import quarantine and customs. Approximately 22,000 animals are imported through Heathrow Airport every year, and experienced staff will look after them. Animals will be kept free of charge for 24 hours after arrival. After arrival, they will be taken out of their crates and taken to their individual rooms. The centre is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
